Description

A botanical dermatology innovation formulated to support the management of actinic keratosis and sun-damaged skin. It contains a standardised extract of Clinacanthus nutans enriched with chlorophyll, working through photodynamic therapy to reduce skin roughness, redness, scaling and thickening.

Actinic keratosis is caused by long-term UV exposure and can progress to squamous cell carcinoma if left untreated. Current treatments are often costly and may cause side effects, which is what makes a gentler option worth developing.

How it works. Imimate uses a chlorophyll catabolite from Clinacanthus nutans. Applied to the skin and exposed to specific light at 660 nm, or to natural daylight, the active compound is activated and generates reactive oxygen species. These selectively damage abnormal or precancerous skin cells by targeting their DNA, mitochondria and membranes, leading to cell death.

Its gentle profile is designed to minimise discomfort and support better patient compliance, making it suitable for sensitive and chronic-care users.
