Actinic Keratosis (AK) is a growing global health concern caused by long-term UV exposure and can progress to squamous cell carcinoma if left untreated. Current treatments are often costly and may cause side effects, highlighting the need for safer, more accessible options. Investigating Clinacanthus nutans, a traditionally used medicinal plant, through modern scientific methods may offer an affordable and effective alternative for AK management.
Imimate Cream is formulated to alleviate Actinic Keratosis and contains a standardised Clinacanthus nutans extract enriched with chlorophyll. Designed to minimise discomfort while delivering targeted therapeutic action, Imimate reduces skin roughness, redness, scaling, and thickening without the harsh side effects seen in conventional therapies. Its gentle profile supports better patient compliance, making it suitable for sensitive and chronic-care users.
Imimate Cream works through photodynamic therapy (PDT), using a chlorophyll catabolite from Clinacanthus nutans. When applied to the skin and exposed to specific light (660 nm) or natural daylight, the active compound is activated and generates reactive oxygen species (ROS). These ROS selectively damage and destroy abnormal or precancerous skin cells by targeting their DNA, mitochondria, and membranes, leading to cell death.
